Whether you are serious about taking up skydiving, or just seeking a once off adrenaline rush, a tandem skydive is the way to go.

The briefing on the ground takes 10 minutes and then you board the plane with your Tandem Instructor (TI). Whilst in the aircraft, the TI will attach your harness to his, and then you're good to go!

The aircraft trip to altitude takes about 15 minutes and the exit altitude is normally 11,000 feet above ground level, which is about 3.5km.

The tandem pair exits the aircraft with the TI in full control, you don't have to worry about a single thing except taking in the scenic view and enjoying the ride all the way!

During the 40 second freefall the pair will reach speeds of up to 200km per hour with a camera person right alongside, capturing every moment of your freefall.

At the end of the freefall the TI will open the parachute (which is specially designed to carry 2 people) followed by a 7 minute awesome canopy ride to the ground. The TI takes the responsibility of flying and landing the parachute safely, and as the passenger you just enjoy the trip back to the drop zone.

Once back on the ground, the camera person edits the footage which takes about 20 minutes after which you will receive a professionally made DVD of all the action, plus a CD containing about 50 very high quality digital still photos.

All TI's are experienced skydivers who have been in the sport for some time. To become a TI in South Africa the candidate needs a minimum of 800 jumps to become eligible, followed by rigorous training and apprenticeship. So rest assured, the TI who takes you for your tandem skydive is properly qualified to do so and is a highly experienced skydiver.
